A letter to my son at two months

May 1, 2014 By Bekah

Dear Bennett,

Today you are two months old.  Just over sixty days ago, I began to believe in the idea of love at first sight.  The first time I saw you, I wept with joy.  Now, each day that passes is another day that I get to celebrate the miracle of your birth and life.  I am so thankful for every moment that I share with you: each smile, each snuggle, and each tear.  Every single moment is a reminder that God is faithful and that he loves us with a measure that we will never understand.
You are the happiest baby I have ever known.  You smile all the time and I’ve almost heard you laugh…but you LOVE to talk.  Especially in the afternoon. You love to be around people and noise; in fact, I think you prefer the noise to our quiet home with just mommy.  You’ve already been on two road trips to see your grandparents and cousins.  You got to attend to your uncle Jon’s wedding and got to witness him pledge his love to the most beautiful bride. You’ve even been to high school twice and caused a riot in the hallways.  Even mommy’s students love you!
One of my favorite parts of this month is watching you and your daddy.  You love your daddy so much that, even when you’re fussy, the second he comes home, he gets a smile.  He is a wonderful father and I know that if you grow to become anything like your dad, you’ll be doing just fine.
You’ve started to become curious of the toys around you and you love to play on your activity mat.  You’ve even started to want to stand up.  You love being outside and hearing the birds chirp; I think that is why you like your seat so much…the bird noises!
Each day, we talk about what you’ll be when you grow up.  I hope that if you’re an athlete, you’re either a football kicker, baseball player, or golfer…I’m thinking longevity here ;).  Your daddy thinks you’ll be a linebacker.  Sometimes we talk in the evenings about whether you’ll be a fireman, businessman, soldier, or doctor.  At the end of our talks, I always just encourage you to be the best at whatever you choose to do.
My favorite time of day with you is at night.  You LOVE the bath and we get to read you a story from your Bible.  Each night you listen to our voices and look intently at the pictures.  Even if you don’t know what we’re saying, I love that you get to meet Jesus this early.  I have prayed each night that you never go a day without knowing how much Christ loves you…how much we love you. We pray for your strength and safety and know that God will work all things for his glory somehow.  We just hope that your life is one that shouts and sings the greatness of our King…like your namesake (David).
We love you so much little guy.  I can’t wait to watch you grow.
