At twenty weeks pregnant, Steven and I found out that we were having a boy.
I sincerely prayed for a boy; I was SO excited to find out we would be expecting a bundle filled with snips and snails and puppy dog tails. Then it hit me: a small ripple of sadness that I would not be able to shop for baby girl clothes. Let’s be honest, the hair bows and the dresses and the cute little jeggings are enough for any mom to swoon over. My one and only regret in not expecting a little girl was the fact that I wouldn’t get to treat her like my baby doll.
Then, I started looking at baby boy clothes. My heart began to flutter. I had a new goal: become a solid baby boy stylist and channel my inner Rachel Zoe. It wasn’t long before Steven’s celebration that we would be saving a few dollars on baby clothing came to a screeching halt…I found the joy in dressing my baby boy.
I have been known to have a few strong opinions about dressing boys too femininely. I want B to look like a little boy: hoodies, camo, bow ties, and little baby jeans. I like Jon Jon’s for their practical use in the summer, but sometimes the smocked outfits can read a little too feminine for my taste.
So, Bennett and I are always on the hunt for practical and stylish little man outfits…or at least I like to tell myself that he is as passionate about the pursuit of cute as I am. Here are a few of my favorites from around the internet.
1.
Sovereign Code:
This is EXACTLY how I want Bennett to dress as he grows up. Bennett has a few pieces that we happened to find for a steal at Nordstrom Rack. Their summer collection for boys is TOO much cute. Currently, we have two hoodies (maroon and camo), a baseball tee, and a collared shirt (with a bow tie) from Sovereign code…you may remember this look:

The collared shirt came with the bow tie and cufflinks. It may be a little tricky to get on, but it is worth it once you wrangle them in!
Nordstrom has a few summer selections on sale that I am loving:
Starboard Shorts |
Anarchy Chambray Trimmed Hoodie |
2. Petit Lem: I really like this brand because they have many functional pieces in addition to their fashionable pieces. Let’s be real; babies spit up…a lot. You need plenty of sleepers because there is a high likelihood that your angel will stain said clothing with any number of bodily functions. Bennett got a set with a short sleeved plaid and yellow shorts (see picture above for shorts). Amazon has some great selections for cheaper than retail.
Petit Lem Baby Boy Mr. Hipster infant pant set $38.99 |
Petit Lem Baby Boys Little Waver Infant Short Set $38.99 |
Petit Lem Newborn Pop Music Romper $23.99 |
3. Carter’s: Seriously, how do moms afford to outfit their babies without Carter’s?? Especially now since everything is 60% off!! I am about to purchase a few rompers for summertime for Bennett that are on sale for $8.99. Here are the new staples of his summer wardrobe:
Snap-up Creeper $5.99!! |
Woven Plaid Romper $8.99 (Thanks Tifani!) |
Polo Style Striped Romper $8.99 |
