A letter to my son at three months

June 13, 2014 By Bekah

Dear Bennett,

Who would have known that you would so beautifully and perfectly rearranged my world in three months? You have shown me how beautiful motherhood can be and how truly precious every moment is.  Before you, I didn’t have a tangible representation that time is fleeting and it flies by all too quickly.

The last month has been a whirlwind adventure.  We made it through two road trips (that is twenty-eight hours or so in your carseat), and as a result, you’re not exactly a fan of your once cozy respite.  I think you believe we are going to the beach every time we get you in the seat. Anyway, once we made it to the beach, it was such a treasured time. I loved being able to watch you kick your feet and play with your toys while laying on the white sand in Destin.  The most precious times were when daddy and granddad had you on their shoulders and you took a nice little beach nap.

You are getting SO big, little guy.  After we got back from the beach, I took you to the doctor.  Within two and a half weeks you had already gained over a pound and a half.  Your last official weigh in was nearing fifteen pounds…but my hunch is that you are somewhere over sixteen (nearing seventeen)now.
The most exciting part of this month was your discovery that your hands are more than decoration.  You started pulling them to your mouth at about eleven weeks, but over the last two weeks, you’ve become more purposeful with picking up toys.  Your personal favorite toys are Sophie the giraffe and your red and white football.  We have a green and blue one, but I can’t find it anywhere.
I never thought I could be so proud of the little things, like hearing you laugh for the first time or watching you roll from your back to your belly (today) for the first time.  You’ve proven that God takes pride in the little things we do for him every day.  It’s almost as if he looks at our little acts of kindness or small moments of goodness with others and swells with overwhelming joy at what we have done to become more like him. I hope you never doubt how much He loves us…not even when things look bleak.
Your daddy and I celebrated three years of marriage on May 29.  I loved that you got to be a part of that celebration on the porch of our home.
Happy family

So so happy.

You’ve given us more joy than I ever thought possible, Bennett boy.  I have never been this happy in my entire life, and I have a feeling it just keeps getting better. I have loved each and every day I have gotten to spend watching you grow, holding you close, and drying your tears.  Even on the tough days, I know that this time is such a sweet time that only happens once.  God has truly blessed us with you.  We are so grateful that we get to be your parents and watch you grow into a wonderful young man. I love you OH so much. -Mom

Look at those cheeks! I just want to squeeze them:) Loving watching you grow into your role as a Mama – it’s the best, isn’t it? There truly is no greater joy!
