If you ever want to know how truly ugly human nature is, fly standby. Purchasing a standby ticket is a low-risk, high reward practice. Last weekend I purchased a round-trip standby request for $50: a regular ticket would've cost upwards of $500. In the grand scheme of travel, $50 is peanuts. Spending a tenth of a regular priced ticket is lovely. Waiting for a seat is not. Most of Continue Reading
It’s a crawlin’ shame…
Little Bear is almost crawling forward. He has gotten to the point where he is reaching and repositioning himself onto his belly. He gets up on all fours and moves vigorously back and forth shifting his weight. His newest favorite activity is crawling and scooting around in his bed. Yesterday, he knocked the monitor camera sideways. And thus, it was time to drop his crib so he won't topple Continue Reading
The fall of man
Dear Brittany, The other day, I sat with my infant son on my lap on our front porch admiring the leaves changing colors. I realize that he doesn't understand exactly what I am saying, but I have made a habit of explaining natural seasonal changes. He has now seen winter change to spring, spring change to summer, and summer change to fall. When the leaves started budding, I explained to my Continue Reading
Unreasonable doubt (scripture to fight Mommy guilt)
I thought I was doing pretty well this morning. Little bear woke me up at 6 a.m., he ate at 6:30, and we played from 7:00 until 8:00. He has gotten strong enough to sit up with the boppy and play with his toys. It was an exciting playtime for this proud mommy. I looked at the clock and thought, 'if I leave now and run at my fastest pace with the stroller, I can be back in time for his nap Continue Reading
It’s all Greek to me
Leave it to the English teacher to be completely smitten with Greek culture, but I seriously cannot contain my excitement when talking about Ancient Greece. After all, the philosophy, art, democracy, and theology are enough to turn me into a little girl with a new doll. Just like that little girl that cannot wait to show you her doll's hair, I can really start to talk your ear off about the Continue Reading
Take heart, future mommies, not all of us had the heart
Yesterday, I had the joy of spending time with my beautiful friend, Chloe, who has been married for over two years now. Before Bennett, I never would've let these words slip out of my mouth. Now, these questions seem to run unbridled out of my wide open trap as I just cannot imagine life without my little one. "So...when do you think you and your husband will entertain the idea of Continue Reading

I am in the process of purging through a few rooms and boxes that should've been purged last year. My sweet mother-in-law and I have been attempting to re-organize our home. There will be an announcement later this week (I know...another!?), but I am not ready to make that news public yet. It is still all too new...all too terrifying...yet exciting at the same time. As Sonia sorts through Continue Reading

Buckhead Bytes Part I: Own it
This is embarrassing to admit, but despite the fact that my husband and I moved into our home about a year ago, we still have a mess in our basement. When I use the word mess...I mean disaster. My husband moved my boxes of childhood keepsakes from my parent's basement to ours and I have recently begun the process of attempting to purge through everything I have a hard time letting go Continue Reading
